The TTouch involves using both of your hands. One hand supports the animal and the other hand does the touch. With your hand that will be doing the motion, have your fingers slightly curved and use the pads of your fingertips. Create conscious circular movements on your dog’s body. You should be using light pressure, not anything too hard, a nice gentle touch.
Start your touch at 6 o’clock and complete the circle (about the the size of a dime) and then add a quarter, so head up to 9 o’clock. Move your hand clockwise. Continue doing these circular touches for just a minute, moving to different spots on your dog’s body.
If your dog is riled up and moving quickly, you can do the touches relatively fast and then slow down your movements to help your dog calm down.
The TTouch helps “stimulate the function and vitality of the cells in an animal’s body, and to activate unused neural pathways to the brain.”
